TLDR PRP injections increased hair density in men with hair loss but didn't work for everyone and more research is needed.
The study assessed the effectiveness of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections in treating male androgenetic alopecia (AGA) in 30 participants. The treatment involved 3 PRP injections at monthly intervals, with hair density measured before the first injection and at 2 and 6 months after the start. Results indicated a significant 19.17% increase in hair density after 6 months, with minimal side effects. However, 13.3% of participants experienced a decrease in hair density, suggesting PRP may not fully control AGA progression. The response to PRP did not correlate with patient age or AGA duration, and the least responsive AGA pattern was Type III vertex. The study's limitations include its small sample size, short follow-up period, and lack of data on follicle diameter. Further research with a larger sample size is recommended to validate these findings.
