TLDR Oral cyclosporine combined with Pantogar® effectively treats twenty-nail dystrophy.
The study assessed the effectiveness of combining oral cyclosporine with the dietary supplement Pantogar® in treating twenty-nail dystrophy (TND) in 82 patients. The combination therapy group, consisting of 38 patients, showed significantly better outcomes than the 44 patients treated with Pantogar® alone. Specifically, 13.2% of the cyclosporine group achieved almost clear nail plates, and their mean CHATS score decreased by 13.45, compared to an 8-point decrease in the control group (p<0.001). Additionally, the cyclosporine group experienced greater improvements in the Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI), indicating enhanced quality of life. Mild gastrointestinal side effects were noted in 10.53% of the cyclosporine group. The study concluded that oral cyclosporine was an effective treatment for TND, though it highlighted the need for larger, randomized controlled trials to confirm these findings.
