Evaluation of Efficacy and Safety of Oral Cyclosporine in the Treatment of Severe Alopecia Areata

    TLDR Oral cyclosporine is an effective and safe treatment for severe alopecia areata.
    The study evaluated the efficacy and safety of oral cyclosporine in treating alopecia areata in 35 patients over a period of 2 to 12 months. Results showed that 80% of patients had a satisfactory response, while 20% had an unsatisfactory response. The treatment response was not influenced by age, gender, disease duration, or type of alopecia areata. Adverse effects were unremarkable, leading to the conclusion that oral cyclosporine was an effective and safe treatment for alopecia areata.
