Effect of the Multifunctional Cosmetic Ingredient Sphinganine on Hair Loss in Men and Women with Diffuse Hair Reduction

The study investigated the effects of sphinganine on hair loss in men and women with diffuse hair reduction, involving 50 participants. Results showed that sphinganine significantly reduced hair loss, improved hair density, and enhanced scalp health by inhibiting 5-α-reductase activity and inducing the innate immunity marker HBD2. The 0.5% concentration of sphinganine was particularly effective, with notable improvements in anagen hair rates, especially in men. The study concluded that sphinganine could be a promising treatment for diffuse hair reduction, offering a viable cosmetic alternative with minimal side effects.
