This study investigated the effects of finasteride and dutasteride on chromogranin A (CgA) serum levels in 60 men with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Participants were randomized to receive either finasteride, dutasteride, or no therapy for 6 months. Results showed that both finasteride and dutasteride significantly increased serum CgA levels at 3 and 6 months compared to the control group, indicating neuroendocrine activation. No significant difference was found between the effects of finasteride and dutasteride.
