TLDR Hair conditioners with argan oil or camellia oil improve the strength and color of bleached hair.
The study investigated the effects of rinse-off hair conditioners containing argan oil or camellia oil on hair damaged by bleaching. Six different conditioners were created using argan oil, camellia oil, and four major fatty acids. The conditioners were applied to bleached hair for 21 days, and their effects on hair surface characteristics, color values, tensile property, and protein loss were evaluated. Both argan oil and camellia oil, as well as the fatty acids, were found to have protective effects on bleached hair. Argan oil was particularly effective in enhancing tensile strength and retaining color. After 21 days of treatment, the tensile strength of bleached hair treated with argan oil and camellia oil increased by 169.82% and 139.91% respectively. The study suggests that using hair conditioners containing these oils can help to recover or even enhance the tensile strength of bleached hair.
