The study investigated the effects of combining testosterone undecanoate (TU) and dutasteride on testosterone deficiency (TD) symptoms and prostate volume (PV) in 130 patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and TD. Patients were divided into two groups: one receiving both TU and dutasteride, and the other receiving only TU. Results showed no significant differences in testosterone levels between the groups, but PV decreased significantly in the combination group and increased in the TU-only group. Both groups experienced improvements in TD symptoms, but the combination group had less improvement in sexual function. The study concluded that while the combination treatment effectively reduced PV and improved TD symptoms, it was less effective for sexual function, suggesting caution in using dutasteride for BPH patients with TD who have sexual dysfunction concerns.
