TLDR Testosterone therapy improves physical function, strength, and body composition in older men with low testosterone levels.
This document is a summary of several studies that investigated the effects of exogenous testosterone (T) alone or with finasteride on physical performance, grip strength, and lean body mass in older men with low serum T levels. The studies found that T therapy, either alone or in combination with finasteride, can improve physical function, strength, and body composition in older men with low serum T levels. The therapy also altered body composition and decreased fat distribution, serum lipids, and leptin levels. However, the clinical significance of the magnitude of improvement in physical performance seen in these studies is not known, and larger, long-term, randomized placebo-controlled trials are warranted to address the specific benefits and risks of testosterone replacement.

      in Finasteride/Dutasteride  84 upvotes 1 year ago
Topical finasteride is considered a safer option for hair regrowth with fewer systemic side effects compared to oral finasteride. Some users report similar efficacy and side effects between topical and oral treatments, while others prefer topical due to reduced systemic exposure.

The conversation discusses the potential of long-chain unsaturated fatty acids, like oleic and linoleic acid, as an additional treatment for hair loss, which may inhibit the enzyme responsible for converting testosterone to DHT and promote hair growth. Users humorously suggest using oils topically and discuss other hair loss treatments, but the main focus is on the science behind fatty acids and their role in hair health.

Creatine may increase DHT levels, potentially causing symptoms like acne, oily hair, and hair shedding. Users report mixed experiences, with some avoiding creatine due to hair loss concerns and others seeing no impact.

Finasteride users have mixed experiences with creatine; some experience increased hair loss, while others do not. Finasteride's DHT-blocking effects might counteract any DHT increase from creatine, but individual responses vary.
