TLDR Nebivolol cream may be a promising hair loss treatment by improving blood flow and nourishing hair follicles.
The study examined the hair growth-promoting effects of 5% and 10% nebivolol cream on 50 male Swiss albino mice, divided into five groups of 10. Both concentrations of nebivolol cream significantly improved hair growth, comparable to 2% minoxidil, by inducing peri-follicular vasodilation and increasing VEGF mRNA expression. Histological analysis showed that nebivolol cream led to hair follicle elongation, increased bulb diameter, and a higher number of follicles in the active growth phase. The study concluded that nebivolol cream could be a promising treatment for hair loss disorders due to its ability to enhance blood circulation and nourish hair follicles, alongside increasing VEGF expression and follicular cell proliferation. Further research is needed to fully understand the mechanisms and potential clinical applications.
