Dupilumab in a 9-Week-Old with Netherton Syndrome Leads to Deep Symptom Control

A 27-year-old male with diffuse hair loss, including the donor area, did not respond to finasteride, dutasteride, or minoxidil. He suspects his hair loss may be linked to a mild connective tissue disorder, possibly affecting the structural support of hair follicles, rather than being purely hormonal.

OP developed hives after using Kx 826 (Pyrilutamide) 1% twice daily for 3 weeks. The hives appeared on the arms, chest, and groin area.

User switched from finasteride to combination dutasteride and finasteride for hair density improvement. They noticed less hair shedding and more youthful skin, with a reply suggesting less DHT could increase elastin in skin.

The user diagnosed with DUPA tried treatments like dutasteride, finasteride, RU58841, and minoxidil without success and is considering a hair system. They hope for a future cure, possibly with PP405, and others suggest options like scalp biopsy and SMP.

The user experienced hair regrowth using dutasteride daily, microneedling weekly, and Nizoral shampoo, after stopping minoxidil due to side effects. They also use a mix of pumpkin seed, rosemary, and peppermint oil, and are considering RU58841 for more temple area thickness.

Topical dutasteride may have limited absorption due to its higher molecular mass compared to finasteride, potentially affecting its efficacy in suppressing DHT locally. Microneedling might enhance dutasteride absorption, possibly offering stronger local DHT suppression with fewer systemic effects.
