TLDR Dual wavelength LED caps can safely increase hair density in androgenetic alopecia.
The study investigated the clinical safety and efficacy of dual wavelength low-level light therapy using LED caps for treating androgenetic alopecia (AGA) in a 26-week, multicenter, double-blind, randomized controlled trial involving 160 subjects. Although individual study arms did not show statistically significant results, the pooled analysis of the three active study arms demonstrated a significant increase in hair density, with 28.5 more hairs per cm² compared to the sham group (p = .033). The LED caps were well tolerated, indicating their potential as a treatment for AGA.

The user was prescribed 0.3% topical finasteride with 5% minoxidil for use on the temples twice daily, while continuing minoxidil on the full scalp. Replies suggested using the treatment once daily and questioned the logic of treating only the temples, with one suggesting dilution for use across the entire scalp.
