TLDR Dual wavelength LED caps can safely increase hair density in androgenetic alopecia.
The study investigated the clinical safety and efficacy of dual wavelength low-level light therapy using LED caps for treating androgenetic alopecia (AGA) in a 26-week, multicenter, double-blind, randomized controlled trial involving 160 subjects. Although individual study arms did not show statistically significant results, the pooled analysis of the three active study arms demonstrated a significant increase in hair density, with 28.5 more hairs per cm² compared to the sham group (p = .033). The LED caps were well tolerated, indicating their potential as a treatment for AGA.
