TLDR Different bovine tissues show varying types of cytokeratins.
The study investigated the expression of cytokeratins in various freshly fixed bovine epithelia using the ABC immunoperoxidase method with specific monoclonal antibodies. It was found that both small acidic and large basic cytokeratins were expressed in the hair follicle and nasolabial gland. In contrast, the epidermal cells, sebaceous gland, and mucosae contained only large basic cytokeratins, while the mammary gland contained only small acidic cytokeratins. These findings were compared with previous reports on human and bovine cell cultures.
