TLDR Foreskin keratinocytes and SVK14 cells express certain cytochrome P450 enzymes, unlike hair follicle keratinocytes.
The study investigated the presence of cytochrome P450 isoenzymes in human epidermal cells using specific monoclonal antibodies. It was found that cultured keratinocytes from foreskin expressed two major forms of hepatic cytochrome P450, while those from hair follicles did not. The human keratinocyte cell line SVK14 showed similar expression to foreskin keratinocytes. Cytochrome P450-9 was only detectable in human hepatocytes. The findings suggested that under the applied culture conditions, foreskin keratinocytes and SVK14 cells continued to express specific cytochrome P450 isoenzymes, unlike hair follicle keratinocytes.
