TLDR PCOS skin symptoms need personalized treatment and psychological support to improve quality of life.
This narrative review examines the skin-related symptoms of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), such as acne, hirsutism, and androgenic alopecia, which are linked to hormonal and metabolic imbalances. These conditions significantly affect the quality of life and mental health of individuals with PCOS. The review discusses the pathophysiology involving hyperandrogenism and insulin resistance and suggests a combination of hormonal, dermatological, and lifestyle interventions for management. It highlights the importance of personalized care and the integration of psychological support to address the psychosocial impact. Future research is needed to develop personalized therapies to improve outcomes for PCOS patients.
