TLDR Corni Fructus extract may help manage benign prostatic hyperplasia by reducing prostate cell growth and inflammation.
The study investigated the effects of Corni Fructus (CF) extract on LNCaP prostate cells, focusing on its potential to inhibit cell proliferation and its impact on factors causing benign prostatic hyperplasia. The research involved culturing LNCaP cells and treating them with CF extract, both alone and in combination with dihydrotestosterone (DHT). The study found that CF extract reduced cell viability and induced apoptosis in LNCaP cells. Additionally, CF extract decreased reactive oxygen species (ROS) and nitric oxide (NO) production, which are associated with cell proliferation and inflammation. These findings suggested that CF extract could potentially be used to manage conditions like benign prostatic hyperplasia by inhibiting cell growth and reducing oxidative stress.
