Confocal Laser Scanning Microscopy: An Excellent Tool for Tracking Compounds in the Skin
November 2005
TLDR Confocal Laser Scanning Microscopy is effective for tracking compounds in the skin.
Confocal Laser Scanning Microscopy (CLSM) was a valuable tool for visualizing fluorescent compounds in the skin, allowing for the simultaneous viewing of multiple fluorophores. This technique provided crucial insights into the interactions and penetration mechanisms of nano-scaled drug carriers, such as liposomes and nanospheres, with skin cells. The study highlighted the use of CLSM in investigating skin penetration properties and targeting hair follicles, confirming enhanced penetration and accumulation of fluorescent compounds in these areas. Additionally, CLSM demonstrated increased dermal deposition of compounds following treatment with Dermarollers, establishing it as a promising method for tracking compounds in dermatological applications.
