TLDR Allogeneic platelet gel heals chronic wounds better than hydrogel.
The study evaluated the efficacy and safety of allogeneic platelet gel versus hydrogel in treating chronic lower leg ulcers in 60 patients. The randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial showed that platelet gel significantly improved wound healing compared to hydrogel. After 6 months, the experimental group treated with platelet gel saw a reduction in mean wound area to 35.01% of the initial size, while the control group treated with hydrogel only reduced to 89.95%. Additionally, wound circumference decreased more in the platelet gel group (54.62%) compared to the hydrogel group (91.28%). The study concluded that allogeneic platelet gel was an effective treatment for non-healing chronic wounds.
