TLDR COVID-19 might cause gray hair to regain color.
A 33-year-old female with a history of hair loss experienced spontaneous repigmentation of gray hair following a COVID-19 infection, suggesting a potential link between the virus and hair pigmentation changes. The case report explores the possibility that COVID-19's inflammatory response may alter the microenvironment of hair follicles, affecting melanocyte activity and leading to hair repigmentation. Elevated pro-inflammatory proteins during infection could interfere with pigmentation processes, while recovery might restore melanocyte function. Although the connection between COVID-19 and gray hair reversal is not fully understood, this case highlights the need for further research into the virus's impact on hair pigmentation.
