A novel extract from non-edible pomegranate byproducts, obtained through hydrodynamic cavitation, demonstrated significant cardiovascular benefits in hypertensive rat models. This extract, called PPE, effectively reduced systolic blood pressure in rats, comparable to the drug Captopril, and showed good intestinal bioaccessibility. Additionally, PPE exhibited anti-inflammatory and anti-fibrotic effects. These findings suggest that utilizing pomegranate byproducts could enhance the pomegranate supply chain's value, reduce environmental impact, and improve public health.
