Pomegranate is a polyphenol-rich fruit with significant health benefits, containing compounds like flavonols, anthocyanins, and tannins. Recent studies have shown its potential in treating cardiovascular and non-cardiovascular diseases, although challenges such as limited oral bioavailability and the need for further research on active metabolites remain. Advances in encapsulation and green extraction techniques are enhancing the use of pomegranate's bioactive constituents, including those from typically discarded parts like the peel, as dietary supplements or therapeutic adjuvants.
