TLDR Young women with PCOS and no other heart risk factors have normal heart function.
The study investigated cardiac function in 48 women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) compared to 21 healthy controls, using conventional echocardiography and tissue Doppler imaging. The parameters measured included left ventricular and atrium diameters, ejection fraction, and various Doppler profiles. The results indicated no significant differences in cardiac function between the PCOS group and the control group. The study concluded that young women with PCOS without additional cardiovascular risk factors have normal cardiac functions. However, the study's PCOS participants were characterized by low BMI, normal blood pressure, and low lipid levels, suggesting that further research is needed to assess the impact of PCOS on cardiac function in populations with obesity, older age, and dyslipidemia.

A 30-year-old female with PCOS and male pattern baldness is frustrated with her endocrinologist's recommendation of only Spironolactone and minoxidil, feeling that dutasteride, finasteride, and progesterone would be more effective. Other users suggest various online sources for treatments, warn against self-medicating due to potential risks, and recommend seeking a specialized endocrinologist or considering additional treatments like Inositol, Berberine, and dermaneedling.

High sugar diets may worsen hair loss by increasing 5α-reductase activity and androgen levels, especially in women with PCOS. A low sugar diet might reduce scalp DHT levels, similar to finasteride, but genetics also significantly influence hair loss.

Hair loss varies due to genetic sensitivity to DHT and other factors. Treatments discussed include finasteride, minoxidil, RU58841, and microneedling.
