Bimatoprost

TLDR Bimatoprost may help treat hair loss from alopecia areata.
This study evaluated the use of bimatoprost 0.03% solution for treating scalp alopecia areata (AA) in 15 adult patients. Patients applied the solution twice daily for 3 months. Thirteen patients (86.7%) responded to the treatment, with six (40%) achieving cosmetically acceptable hair regrowth. The Severity of Alopecia Tool score significantly reduced in all responders (P = 0.01), with hair regrowth starting after an average of 2.87 weeks. No side effects were reported, though one patient experienced recurrence. The study concluded that bimatoprost is a potentially effective treatment for scalp AA, but larger studies with longer treatment durations and higher concentrations are needed.
