TLDR Baricitinib significantly improved hair regrowth and skin condition in a 14-year-old with alopecia areata and atopic dermatitis.
A 14-year-old male with severe alopecia universalis and moderate atopic dermatitis showed significant improvement after 59 weeks of treatment with baricitinib, a Janus kinase inhibitor. His SALT score improved from 100 to 24.4, and his EASI score dropped to 0, indicating substantial hair regrowth and resolution of skin lesions. The treatment was well-tolerated, with minor side effects like folliculitis. This case suggests baricitinib's potential as an effective treatment for pediatric patients with alopecia areata and atopic dermatitis, though further research is needed to understand its long-term effects in children.
