The article reported a new industrially viable process for synthesizing finasteride, a compound used in treating hair loss, from novel azaandrostane derivatives. The process utilized a benzoyl group as a novel protecting group for the lactamic NH group. The structures of the newly prepared compounds were confirmed using spectral data, including IR, 1H-NMR, and MS.
