TLDR Araliadiol may help reduce skin aging and inflammation without killing cells.
This study evaluated the senotherapeutic potential of araliadiol, a plant-derived compound, in senescent human dermal fibroblasts using three in vitro models. Araliadiol did not exhibit senolytic activity but showed significant senomorphic effects by reducing the expression of senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP) factors and matrix metalloproteinases (MMP-1 and MMP-3), and increasing extracellular collagen type I content. These effects suggest that araliadiol could be a promising natural topical therapeutic agent for mitigating skin aging by improving skin structure and reducing inflammation without inducing cell death. Further research is needed to explore its toxicological threshold and efficacy in vivo.
