Introducing Antioxidants as Essential for the Maintenance of Tissue Life as Demonstrated in Human Hair Follicles

TLDR Antioxidants, like catalase, are crucial for keeping hair follicles alive.
The study demonstrated the essential role of antioxidants, specifically the enzyme catalase, in maintaining tissue life in human hair follicles. Using a novel optical microscopy technique, researchers observed that hair follicles immersed in water interacted with biomagnetic fields (BMFs) from blood, creating distinct magnetic profiles. When exposed to 35% H2O2, oxygen bubbles formed due to catalase breaking down H2O2, and the cessation of this reaction indicated tissue death. The findings highlighted the importance of catalase in preventing oxidative damage and maintaining hair follicle viability.
