TLDR Dutasteride injections can help hair growth in androgenic alopecia but need more research for long-term use.
The review discussed androgenic alopecia (AGA) and the use of dutasteride in hair mesotherapy as a treatment. Dutasteride, a potent 5a-reductase inhibitor, was found to be effective in increasing hair growth when injected directly into the scalp, especially when combined with other substances. The review highlighted the complex nature of AGA, involving genetic factors, hormonal imbalances, and microinflammation. It concluded that a multi-therapeutic approach might be more effective for AGA management and emphasized the need for more studies to establish long-term protocols for dutasteride injections. Potential side effects, such as hair loss at injection sites and scalp abscesses, were also noted.
