TLDR The technique effectively promotes hair growth in young men with androgenetic alopecia.
The study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of delivering minoxidil and dutasteride through a drug tattooing technique for treating androgenetic alopecia in men. Ten men underwent at least 3 monthly sessions, where the drugs were delivered to the superficial dermis using a tattoo machine and microneedles. The results, measured by changes in the Severe Alopecia Tool (SALT) scores, showed significant hair growth in most patients. However, those with a longer history of androgenetic alopecia and scalp photoaging did not respond as well. The technique was considered effective for promoting hair growth in young male patients with androgenetic alopecia.
