TLDR Men with early-onset hair loss have more heart disease risk factors.
The study investigated the clinical profile of androgenic alopecia (AGA) and its association with cardiovascular risk factors in men aged 25-40 years, involving 50 men with early-onset AGA and 50 controls. Results showed that metabolic syndrome (MetS) was present in 10% of AGA cases compared to 2% of controls, though not statistically significant. However, AGA patients had significantly higher rates of abdominal obesity, hypertension, and lowered high-density lipoprotein levels. The study concluded that men with early-onset AGA had a higher prevalence of cardiovascular risk factors, suggesting that early screening for MetS and its components could be beneficial for these patients.
