TLDR Herbal supplements improved semen quality in bulls.
This study investigated the effects of herbal feed supplementation on androgen hormone dynamics and semen quality in 18 Frieswal breeding bulls. The bulls were divided into three groups, with two groups receiving herbal supplements containing Safed musli, Kali musli, Ashwagandha, and other herbs. Over four months, the study found that while testosterone, DHEA, and androstenedione levels remained unchanged, DHT levels significantly decreased in the supplemented groups. Importantly, semen volume, sperm motility, viability, and reduced abnormality improved significantly in the supplemented bulls, suggesting that herbal feed supplementation can enhance semen quality by potentially modulating DHT levels.
