TLDR Aloe vera may help heal burns by boosting skin cell growth.
The study on 54 male Wistar rats examined the effects of Aloe vera extract on post-burn skin repair, focusing on macrophage and fibroblast activity and epidermal thickness. The treatment group, which received Aloe vera gel, showed significantly higher macrophage and fibroblast numbers and greater epidermal thickness compared to control groups, indicating enhanced wound repair. Aloe vera's acemannan content was linked to increased collagen synthesis and faster re-epithelialization. Despite some criticism of the study's conclusions and methodology, the findings suggested Aloe vera could be a beneficial alternative treatment for burn injuries by promoting cell proliferation and migration.
