TLDR Aloe vera extract speeds up and improves wound healing in rabbits.
This study investigated the effects of Iraqi Aloe vera extract on the healing of full-thickness skin wounds in 16 rabbits. The rabbits were divided into two groups: a control group with no treatment and a treated group with Aloe vera extract applied to the wounds. Histological analysis showed that the treated group experienced early re-epithelialization, granulation tissue formation, and minimal inflammation compared to the control group. By day 21, the treated group exhibited superior tissue regeneration, including organized epidermal fibrosis, increased dermal neovascularization, and new hair follicle formation, indicating that Aloe vera extract promotes more effective wound healing and tissue regeneration than no treatment.
