Evaluation of Oxidative Stress on Dogs with Demodicosis

    The study investigated oxidative stress in 32 dogs, 21 with demodicosis and 11 healthy. Clinical signs in affected dogs included alopecia, erythema, and pruritus. Oxidative stress markers were measured, showing higher MDA (20.30 nmol/ml) and lower antioxidant levels (GSH 4.9 nmol/ml, GPx 0.42 U/l, SOD 4.1 U/l) in dogs with demodicosis compared to post-treatment and control groups. Post-treatment values improved but were still lower than controls. The findings indicate that demodicosis causes significant oxidative stress in dogs.
