TLDR Unhealthy diet and lifestyle choices may increase the risk of hair loss in women.
The study conducted in the Jidong community, China, with 3,008 female participants, found a 6.85% prevalence of female androgenetic alopecia (FAGA). It identified key lifestyle and dietary factors associated with FAGA, including sleep snoring, frequent consumption of bacon and preserved meats, drinking unboiled water, age, and suboptimal health status. These factors were particularly significant in women under 50, with unboiled water posing a higher risk for those over 50. The study suggests that addressing these factors could reduce the incidence and progression of FAGA, although further research is needed to establish causality.
