A 6-Month, Randomized, Double-Blind, Placebo-Controlled Study Evaluating the Ability of a Marine Complex Supplement to Promote Hair Growth in Men with Thinning Hair

In the 2016 study involving 60 men with male pattern hair loss, the marine complex supplement Viviscal Man was found to significantly improve hair growth. Participants were randomized to receive either the supplement or a placebo twice daily for 6 months. By Day 180, there were significant increases in total hair count, total hair density, and terminal hair density (P = 0.001 for each), along with fewer hairs removed during the hair pull test for the supplement group compared to the placebo at both Day 90 and Day 180. Quality of life measures also improved significantly. No adverse events were reported, leading to the conclusion that the marine complex supplement is an effective, drug-free option for promoting hair growth in men with thinning hair.
