TLDR 3D virtual planning can help in precise skull reconstruction for advanced skin cancer, but patient-specific factors must be considered.
The study explored the feasibility of using three-dimensional virtual planning for cranial reconstruction in cases of advanced cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (cSCC) of the skull. It found that this approach could lead to accurate and predictable resections and facilitate the precise and rapid placement of patient-specific implants (PSI). However, it emphasized the importance of considering individual patient characteristics to evaluate the potential risks and benefits before choosing this one-stage treatment strategy.
