308-Nm Excimer Laser Therapy in Alopecia Areata

The study evaluated the use of 308-nm excimer laser therapy for alopecia areata in 9 patients, finding it effective for hair regrowth in those with alopecia areata partialis (AAP), but not in cases of alopecia areata universalis (AAU) or alopecia areata totalis (AAT). The treatment was administered twice weekly for up to 24 sessions and was generally well-tolerated, with only mild side effects like erythema and hyperpigmentation. The study concluded that the 308-nm excimer laser showed promise as a treatment for AAP, though larger studies were needed to validate these results.
