Glossary Wound Contraction

process where wound edges move inward to close

Wound contraction is the process by which the edges of a wound move towards the center to close and heal the wound. This is primarily driven by the action of specialized cells called myofibroblasts, which pull the wound edges together, reducing the wound size and facilitating faster healing.
