    condition where insufficient protein and calories lead to health issues

    Protein-Calorie Malnutrition (PCM), also known as Protein-Energy Malnutrition (PEM), is a condition that occurs when a person does not consume enough protein and calories to meet their body's needs. This can lead to a range of health issues, including stunted growth in children, weakened immune function, muscle wasting, and in severe cases, organ failure. It is particularly prevalent in developing countries but can also occur in individuals with eating disorders or chronic illnesses.
