    GlossaryPostpartum Hair Loss

hormonal changes after childbirth cause temporary hair shedding

Postpartum Hair Loss, also known as Postpartum Alopecia, is a common condition where women experience significant hair shedding after giving birth. This occurs due to hormonal changes, particularly the drop in estrogen levels, which causes more hair follicles to enter the resting (telogen) phase and subsequently fall out. The shedding typically peaks around three to six months postpartum and usually resolves on its own within a year.
