TLDR Postpartum hair loss can reveal hidden hair loss conditions.
The study aimed to identify additional underlying hair loss disorders in patients with postpartum telogen effluvium (TE). Clinical and dermoscopic evaluations were conducted on 200 female participants experiencing postpartum hair loss. Results showed that 9.5% had TE alone, 56% had TE with androgenetic alopecia (AGA), 6.5% had TE with traction alopecia (TA), and 28% had TE with both AGA and TA. Key findings included hair diameter diversity, empty follicles, and vellus hair. The study concluded that postpartum TE might be associated with other hair loss disorders, highlighting the importance of awareness for accurate diagnosis and treatment.
