TLDR Stem cell treatment improved hair density in female hair loss patient.
This document is a letter to the editor reporting a preliminary result of adipose-derived stem cell treatment for female pattern hair loss (FPHL). The patient, a 45-year-old woman with diffuse parieto-occipital alopecia, had previously tried multiple mesotherapies including dutasteride with minoxidil, multinutrients, and platelet-rich plasma therapies, all of which resulted in failure. The patient was treated with stromal vascular fraction of adipose tissue, and six months later, a clinical photograph comparing preoperative one revealed that the hair density significantly improved as well as pull tests showed negative results. Adipose-derived stem cells have been reported to play a role in angiogenesis and wound healing, and the improvement of hair shedding may be related to increased vascularity induced by stem cell therapy.
