    GlossaryPeripheral Vascular Disease (PVD)

condition where narrowed blood vessels reduce blood flow to limbs

Peripheral Vascular Disease (PVD), also known as Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD), is a condition where the blood vessels outside of the heart and brain narrow, reducing blood flow to the limbs, typically the legs. This can cause symptoms such as leg pain when walking (claudication), numbness, and slow-healing wounds, and is often associated with atherosclerosis, where plaque builds up in the arteries.
