    GlossaryProstate-Specific Antigen

protein produced by prostate cells, often measured for cancer screening

Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) is a protein produced by cells in the prostate gland, which is a small gland in men that produces seminal fluid. Elevated levels of PSA in the blood can be an indicator of prostate cancer, benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), or inflammation of the prostate. PSA testing is commonly used as a screening tool for early detection of prostate cancer.
