Pigmented hair, also known as colored or melanized hair, refers to hair that contains melanin, the natural pigment responsible for its color. Melanin is produced by specialized cells called melanocytes, which are located in the hair follicles. The type and amount of melanin determine the hair's color, ranging from black and brown to blonde and red.
