    Ototoxicity refers to the property of being toxic to the ear, specifically the cochlea or auditory nerve and sometimes the vestibular system, which can result in hearing loss or balance disorders. This condition is often caused by certain medications or chemicals, such as aminoglycoside antibiotics or chemotherapy agents, which can damage the inner ear structures.
