The MTT assay, also known as the MTT reduction assay, is a laboratory test used to measure cell viability and proliferation. It involves adding a yellow dye called MTT to cells; living cells convert this dye into a purple formazan product, which can be quantified by measuring its absorbance with a spectrophotometer. This assay is commonly used in research to assess the effects of drugs, toxins, or other treatments on cell health.
