An epidermal nevus, also known as a nevus epidermalis, is a non-cancerous skin growth that typically appears at birth or in early childhood. These growths are caused by an overgrowth of the epidermal cells and can vary in size, shape, and color, often appearing as raised, wart-like patches on the skin. They are usually benign but can sometimes be associated with other systemic conditions, a situation referred to as epidermal nevus syndrome.
