May 2026 in “Medical Sciences” This review found that vesicle-based therapies, including mammalian MSC-derived and plant-derived vesicles, consistently promote wound healing in preclinical models of thermal injury and may offer a safer alternative to live cell transplants.
April 2025 in “Biomacromolecules” This study developed microneedles loaded with Platycladus orientalis leaf extract to treat androgenic alopecia, finding that they can effectively deliver active ingredients into the dermis, promote hair follicle growth by removing free radicals, and activate the Wnt/β-catenin pathway.
April 2025 in “OPAL (Open@LaTrobe) (La Trobe University)” In this study, Platycladus orientalis leaf extract loaded into hyaluronic acid microneedles was found to promote hair follicle growth by enhancing the environment for hair cell proliferation and activating repair pathways, suggesting potential as a treatment for androgenic alopecia.
This study suggests that bio-nanovesicles, such as exosomes and microvesicles, may enhance skin and hair follicle regeneration by modulating key signaling pathways, potentially overcoming the limitations of conventional treatments for alopecia and chronic skin diseases.
January 2026 in “Biomacromolecules” This study developed a peptide-based topical delivery system that enhanced hair growth with reduced systemic exposure to finasteride, showing efficacy comparable to 5% minoxidil in vivo while using significantly less finasteride than oral doses.
