Bone Morphogenetic Protein (BMP) refers to a group of growth factors and cytokines that are part of the transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β) superfamily. These proteins play a crucial role in the formation of bone and cartilage, as well as in the regulation of cell growth, differentiation, and apoptosis. BMPs are also involved in various biological processes, including embryonic development and tissue repair.
